Scenario

Imagine that you have been asked to prepare a gift for the captain of Pride of Baltimore II. This gift is going to be presented to the captain and crew when Pride II docks at one of the cities on the Europe with Pride Tour.

Challenge

You have agreed to gather items that reflect the culture, people and geography of a country being visited by Pride and present them to the captain and crew. You will need to be able to place these items in a gift box and will need to be able to explain each of your choices.

  • What 10 items will you place in your gift box?
  • What parts of the culture, the people, and the geography do you think are the most important to represent?
  • How will you explain your choices to the captain and the crew?

To learn more about the culture, people and geography of the countries being visited by Pride of Baltimore II, visit the Electronic Bookshelf. These Internet resources will help you gather information for your task.

Task

Assemble a gift package that contains at least ten items. Each of these items should reflect a different part of the country you have chosen and should have a gift card attached to it that explains how it represents the people, culture or geography of the country.

After you have chosen an item, revisit your resources to make As you gather your information, please evaluate it for relevance to the task and to the challenge question.

Assessment

You will be graded on your daily work on the research process as well as on your final product and presentation.
