Implementing Asia with PRIDE

  • Working with lessons. As the lessons are posted during the school year, you can have your students work with them in the way that best suits your circumstances and Internet accessibility. The lessons have been written so that students can work as a whole calss, in teams, or independently. We encourage you to hold each student responsible for his or her share of the work. This will help them take the project seriously.

  • Capitalize on the Teacher Aboard reports. One of the most exciting features of Asia with PRIDE will be the frequent reports from the Teacher Aboard who will describe her experiences aboard the ship in the ports of call at least three times each week. Students will anxiously anticipate each new entry. If everyone can't read the reports at the same time, you may wish to select some students to check the web regularly for new entries from the Teacher Aboard. They can then report to the class in their own words - as ambassadors from the ship - what's happened aboard that day. The ambassadors should write down the longitude and latitude of the report. Then they or other members of the class can plot the progress and location of the ship on the colored Explore the World centerfold map . These thrice-weekly ambassador reports will quickly become the highlight of your Asia with PRIDE project.
